About

Lara Dion

Originating from Quebec City, Lara Dion is an emerging artist having just completed her bachelor’s degree at Bishop’s University with an honours in Fine Arts and a major in Art history. In 2020, she was the recipient of the Wanda Rozynska scholarship in Fine Arts as well as the Rozynski Opportunity Fund where she participated in a welding and metal work residency at Soudure FRS Dion. Her passion for the arts is deeply rooted in her awareness and need to understand the world around her as well as her place within it. Her artistic practice manifests itself as an investigation into the complexities that underline the understanding and visualization of the female. Her passion for metalwork has helped shaped and push forward the creation of her sculptures. In 2022, for the duration of the summer, she exhibited one of her larger steel sculptures at the public marina in St-Michel-de-Bellechasse. Her works have also been presented in a number of group exhibitions, including the Ye Olde Blacksmith Art Gallery in 2019 and 2021 as well as the Foreman Art Gallery in 2021. In 2023 she took part in the 62nd Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, located in downtown Toronto at Nathan Phillip Square.
